We live in a hurting, broken world. But Scripture reminds us that God comforts us in relief of suffering. Throughout His ministry Jesus encourages us to reach out to all nations, sharing the goods news of His unending love. Healing of the nations is about fulfilling this calling. Whether through our daily interactions with people or by participating in a short-term mission experiences in other countries, we can live the gospel.
How can you get involved? There are many different opportunities available through both local and international volunteer organizations. Each program offered is unique and utilizes certain skills, which means some may be a better fit for you than others. Be proactive in seeking what is available and you might be surprised by what is out there for you to do. Taking part in service abroad is a particularly rewarding experience. There are many mission organizations nationally and internationally that seek to connect individuals with different cultural contexts and religious environments. Additionally, there are several other non-profit and private organizations that work abroad in several different contexts that are not religiously affiliated.
